Clinical Hypnotherapy.
Hypnotherapy is thought to work by altering our state of conscious awareness in such a way, that the analytical left-hand side of the brain is turned off, while the
non-analytical right-hand side is made more alert. Thus, the conscious part of the mind is inhibited, and the subconscious part of the mind is awoken. Since it is in the subconscious part of the mind is where any changes need to be made, Hypnotherapy is an excellent tool in helping people make the changes they choose to make. The Hypnotherapist primary role is to assists in helping the client uncover and explore memories, emotions and past events which may affect a person's conscious mind and activating the client's inner resources in order to achieve the desired goals.
For example, a person who consciously wants to overcome their fear of spiders may try everything they consciously can to do it, but will still fail as long as their subconscious mind retains this terror and prevents the patient from succeeding. Progress can only be made be reprogramming the subconscious so that deep-seated instincts and beliefs are abolished or altered.
PARTS Therapy / Inner Conflict Resolution Therapy.
Everybody is made up of many different PARTS or sub-personalities that define us to being the people we are. These PARTS of us are not temporary emotional states or habitual thoughts, but a discreet and autonomous system deep with ourselves, that has it's own set of emotions, styles of expression and own abilities, intentions and function. Problems arise when two or more PARTS are in conflict. Take for example the Smoker. There is one PART that still wants to smoke which is the SMOKER PART, and the opposing PART which could be the HEALTHY or FINANCIAL PART that does not want to smoke for health or financial reasons. So the person is always in inner conflict, with the two PARTS always battling it out.
How many times have we said there is a PART of me that tells me I should ... smoke ... eat that piece of cake ... buy that dress ... when another PART is saying NO!
PARTS Therapy or Inner Conflict Resolution Therapy is a brilliant tool to help bring resolution and a sense of balance to both PARTS in order for the person to feel at peace again.
Counselling & Psychotherapy.
Counselling & Psychotherapy are also known as one of the "talking" therapies. Counselling & Psychotherapy are one of several possible treatments for stress, anxiety, panic, fear and depression to name a few. Counselling & Psychotherapy aims to help a person learn about him or herself, understand past and present relationships, and change patterns of behavior that may contribute to problems in life.
CBT - (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) .
CBT is one type of psychotherapy ('talking" therapy). Unlike other types of psychotherapy it does not involve 'talking freely', or dwell on events in your past to gain insight into your emotional state of mind. It is not a 'lie on the couch and tell all' type of therapy. CBT tends to deal with the 'here and now' - how your current thoughts and behaviours are affecting you now. CBT aims to help you to change the way that you think, feel and behave. It recognises that events in your past have shaped the way that you currently think and behave. In particular, thought patterns and behaviours learned in childhood. However, CBT does not dwell on the past, but aims to find solutions to how to change your current thoughts and behaviours so that you can function better in the future.
EMDR - (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing).
EMDR is a powerful and relatively new form of psychotherapy that is challenging everything we believe or have assumed about emotions and the nature of change. Where years ago it was accepted that psychotherapy often took a long time, depending on the nature of the problem (and even then outcomes were less than wonderful), therapists and clients are finding that problems that were resistant to years of psychotherapy are being resolved in a very short amount of time. Sometimes, within a few sessions.
