Psycho -Sexual Problems & HOCD

"In my sex fantasy, nobody ever loves me for my mind. "
Nora Ephron
Two fundamental reasons for most relationships experiencing problems are money and sex.
If you attend a clinic with a sex therapist then you would normally have to be with your partner. Clinical Hypnotherapy is not sex therapy. Clinical Hypnotherapy allows a client to be treated on their own which has significant benefits in terms of reduced nervousness and anxiety.
Clinical Hypnotherapy will have a particular focus depending on whether the problem is an organic sexual problem, that is one that requires medical intervention e.g. if on certain drugs, illness, heart problems, disbetes etc.
Psycho (psychological) sexual disorders exist purely in the mind, and cause a problem between the mind and body connection. As most sexual problems and issues occur in the mind, so these can be helped by using Clinical Hypnotherapy. These include erection issues and lubrication, impotence and anorgasmia, premature ejaculation, fantasy and role playing, libido, and much more.
More and more men are experiencing Small Penis Syndrome or Locker Room Syndrome.
This anxiety based syndrome main focus is on the size of the male penis, and makes the sufferer think or believe that their penis is too small or not big enough. This can have an adverse effect on the sufferers self confidence, feelings of inadequacy, and belief they can not sexually satisfy their partner, due to the fact of their preceived small penis size.
So how can Clinical Hypnotherapy help? Since hypnotherapy deals with your subconscious mind, all sexual activity during Clinical Hypnotherapy takes place only in your imagination. What you learn through Clinical Hypnotherapy is practiced privately elsewhere. This is NOT a voyeuristic service, but a therapeutic process.
A common, effective use of Clinical Hypnotherapy is to lower your anxiety. The anticipation of failure (particularly for men anxious about their ability to have or to maintain an erection) brings on anxious feelings. These in turn bring about the failure. Clinical Hypnotherapy ends this vicious circle and replaces the anticipation of failure with the certainty of success and confidence.
Traditional sex therapy methods are more readily accepted by you when in hypnosis because the conscious, judgmental, analytical part of your mind is temporarily set aside. Your subconscious then absorbs the new, positive messages you've asked the hypnotherapist to create. Precisely because hypnotherapy taps into the autonomic nervous system, a person can use it to improve or alter functions that normally happen without conscious control, e.g., a man's erection or a lady's ability to lubricate when sexually aroused.

Homosexual obsessive-compulsive disorder (HOCD) is not a common term but has gained momentum in recent years. HOCD refers to the anxiety or doubt some individuals feel about their sexuality. HOCD sufferers are constantly worried that they might be gay, but are never able to resolve this internal issue. This is different than anxiety commonly experienced by gays in dealing with society's acceptance or lack thereof, rather HOCD implies internal confusion and fear about an individual's own sexual orientation.
Clinical Hypnotheray and Psychotherapy is an excellent tool in helping the client explore HOCD, and all of the negative thoughts, feelings, emotions and patterns of behaviour that is attached to HOCD.
Typical symptoms of HOCD:
(*** I use the word "gay" purely for ease of use and uniformity ***)
- Recurrent doubts about one's own sexuality
- Unwanted or intrusive thoughts about being gay
- Inability to get rid of unwanted worries or intrusive thoughts about being gay
- Seeing a member of the same sex causes anxiety and triggers unwanted thoughts about being gay
- Avoidance of members of the same sex for fear of unwanted thoughts or anxiety
- Thoughts or worries about giving off signals that one may be homosexual
- Repeating mundane actions for fear that these actions may have been performed in a "homosexual" way or a way that may signal homosexuality in the person (for example, a male may feel the need to get up from a chair and sit back down in it if he feels that the way he sat in the chair was "feminine," or a male may worry that the way he walks is too "feminine" or signals homosexuality)
- Repeating an action may relieve anxiety, but then the person feels the need to repeat the action (or ritual) again and again to relieve anxiety
- Anxiety over being gay is in opposition to one's own values and desires
- One feels that the thoughts are unacceptable and inappropriate
- Homosexual thoughts are repugnant rather than arousing
