Just another 4 letter word ... or is it?
Are you struggling with that 4 letter word - FOOD?
Do you want to end your destructive negative eating patterns of behaviour in which you either emotionally eat or binge eat or eat in secret on a regular basis?
Do you want to stop the pattern of yo-yo dieting?
Do you want to understand the reasons why you overeat, in order to help you change your guilt-ridden relationship with food permanently?

Guilt has no place in a healthy mind or healthy body
We all have our own comfort foods.
Interestingly, they may vary according to moods and gender.
One study found that happy people seem to want to eat things like pizza,
while sad people prefer ice cream and biscuits.
Bored people crave salty, crunchy things, like crisps.
Researchers also found that men seem to prefer hot, homemade comfort meals,
like steaks, meat pies and casseroles.
Negative emotional eating is when people use food as a way to deal with negative thoughts, feelings and emotions and patterns of behaviour, instead of purely eating just to satisfy physical hunger.
We've all been there, finishing a whole packet of biscuits out of boredom, having a chocolate bar after an argument at work with the boss or eating bags of crisps while cramming for a big test or exam.
We have also experienced the positive side of emotional eating that can be linked to joyous, happy feelings. The romance of sharing dessert on Valentine's Day or the celebration meal with friends or family of a good news received and what about birthdays and Christmas.
Sometimes emotional eating is tied to major life events that happen through one’s life, like a death or a divorce, changing jobs or moving house. This is normally
short - termed and you are fully aware that you are eating to help you cope.
IMAGINE BANISHING OVEREATING FOREVER!
I deal with the destructive side of negative overeating.
This negative pattern of behaviour is often fuelled by a real deep seated reason that is not accessible on a conscious level, i.e. if you knew why you were doing it ... you would find ways of changing it!
So negative overeating is often a coping mechanism, in where you are literally feeding your emotions to help you cope or to help you deal with what you are not feeling good about, or by helping you to cope a situation on a very deep subconscious level that you are not even consciously aware of.
When this pattern of negative eating is done on a regular basis, negative eating can affect a person’s weight, either by losing or gaining weight on a regular basis, which then leads to the pattern of yo-yo dieting, their physical and mental health, and will eventually destroy a person’s general overall well-being and feelings of self image, self esteem and feelings of self worth.
Not many of us make the connection between eating and our feelings.
But understanding what drives negative emotional eating can help people take steps to change it on a permanent basis, and in turn lose weight.

The Difference Between Cravings and Hunger
- Physical hunger is gradual, while emotional cravings occur suddenly.
- Hunger can be delayed while emotional cravings have strong desires for immediate gratification.
- Hunger causes the desire for food in general, while emotionalcravings can only be satisfied with specific foods.
- Hunger is gone after eating, while emotional eating occurs even when hunger is absent.
- Emotional eating fills a void caused by feelings for comfort.
- Emotional eating is followed by more negative feelings such as guilt, insecurity, self-loathing and sadness.
